San Diego - Day One

This is my first blog and I intend it to be a stream of consciousness. In other words, it might jump around and get off target.

Well of course I don't pack the night before so Saturday morning starts off in a whirlwind. I missed my flight, but only had to wait two hours for the next on. That gave me time to eat breakfast.

I saw Bill Goldberg, the WWF wrestler, in the airport.

Flight out was good. They have the coolest stuff on Delta jets now. Everyone has there own little TVs and you can watch movies, play games, or even get live TV. I watched the Ryder Cup and football all the way out to Cali.

I reserved a car online the night before coming out. When I got to Hertz, I was able to get a better deal with my AAA card which made it low enough I opted to upgrade to a mustang convertible. It is awesome.

The hotel is pretty close to the airport and downtown. It's nice, right on the port. It is surrounded by 1000's of yachts and sail boats. I have a balcony looking right out over it.

After I unpacked, I just jumped in the car and drove around a little bit. The weather is unbelievable, sunny and 70's. While out, I realized I forgot the camera, so I stopped and bought a Larry Wayne Special, Fuji disposable camera. I hope it works pretty good.

For dinner, I ate at a little Italian hole-in-the-wall restaurant in San Diego's Little Italy district called Mona Lisa. The food and atmosphere were great.

After dinner, I went back to the hotel bar to watch a little football. It was funny hearing all of the PAC-10 fans talking about how good the SEC is, although "Tennessee got it's ass kicked" was mentioned several times. I wonder who the sheep are blaming now that Ainge is gone. Crompton is too easy, lets blame Eric Berry. He should intercept every pass and return it for a touchdown. Poor Fat Phillip Foolmer, a perfect coach without a perfect record. Phil sucks and Larry is going to owe Al lunch in about a week, that's all I have to say about that.

I went up to my room and watched the second half of two good football teams playing. LSU and AU was a great game. At that point, it was 8:00 here but 11:00 eastern and I was tired, so I went to sleep. I needed my rest because the next day was Torrey Pines!

Yes I got it! I was waiting for day two. Sounds like an awesome weekend. I am saving up for Al's lunch. Looks like a long year for Vols fans. Is there a pony-car in your future? The pictures from Torrey Pines were super. Was that really a Larry Wayne special? Great Blog, Can't wait for the next post.
